  17. Installation

  20. 1.  If you have not already done so, download and install the 
  21.     Visual Basic Runtime v6.0.  It can be downloaded from:

  25.     To install the runtime, execute the downloaded file, vbrun60-setup.exe.

  27. 2.  Execute ptprnlog-setup.exe.  This is a self-extracting/auto-installing archive file.

  33. Run the program by double-clicking PTPrnLog's icon.
  34.  
  35. Once run, the program displays a list of printers attached to your computer. 
  36. You may then select which printers' activities are to be logged, by placing a checkmark next to the printer's name.
  37. By default, all local printers are logged, but network printers must be selected individually.

  39. Logging of completed printer jobs begins immediately after the program has started.
  40. To view the current log, click the program's View button. The View window may be
  41. resized, and the log may be sorted on any column by clicking the column's header.

  43. You may also select a new log file name by clicking the program's Select button.
  44. The log file is a text file, containing one line per completed print job.
  45. Each line contains several items about the job, each item separated by a tab character.
  46. This file format, called Tab-Separated Value or TSV, can be imported into other 
  47. programs such as spreadsheets and word processors.

  49. To make a copy of the current log file's contents, click the program's Copy button.  
  50. Click the program's Purge button to remove all entries from the current log file.
